Year-round schooling could give us shorter two week breaks between our semesters instead of short two week breaks a few times a year. I would rather have a month break than a two week break, wouldn't all of us? Although there may not be as many breaks they would be split up better. These longer breaks could mean that we would be refreshed for anew subject to learn. But does this mean that we would forget the rest between these breaks? My parents have told me they think it is a better schedule because if we wanted to go away on a holiday, they wouldn't have to worry about only going for a week. Instead, they could go on holiday for a full month without worrying about their kids falling behind in class. With this example of a year-round calendar could be very useful to the people who don't have much money but still like to travel. For example, if you wanted to go on a big trip you would have three different options of when to go so when you do go it is not so busy and would cost less. Between the breaks you would have time to save up for the things you want to do on the breaks without losing to much all at once.
All in all year round schooling could be a good thing or a bad thing. It all mainly depends on the way you look at it and the way you live your life. The vote for year round schooling will be very confusing. Having people weighing the odds it will make for a very difficult desision.
I tried to put this into paragraphs but whenever I do it changes it back to ine giant paragraph tommorow I will show ms lees and get her to help me fix it . Sorry
ReplyDeleteGood job on this post Chelsea. Although I am a bit confused whether you posted this as you're first post for last week since this wasn't a topic this week, or if you got confused and you thought it was also this week's topic. I also noticed a few spelling and grammar mistakes while I was reading. Also, you're conclusion can be longer.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, great job and keep it up!
Hi Jessica,
DeleteThank you for your suggestions to Chelsea. Your spelling and grammar mistakes are noted. Please remember to watch them in your own comments. I like how you showed attention to detail. Perhaps use an example from Chelsea's writing to show her a correction.
Ms Lees and the HUM department
this was my first post which was the topic
ReplyDeleteGreat Post! A few things to look out for are a couple grammar and punctuation errors here and there, other than that everything looks great! I completely agree with your opinions on the pro's and con's of both the year round schooling as well as the current calendar schedule which we currently follow in our everyday life. I believe that the year round schooling would have a positive impact on students. Less of a desire to "skip" class. This would also give students 3 long breaks rather than a greater amount of days off scattered throughout the school year. Also, if I have my facts straight, the vacation periods still fall at the same time as our current vacations. One for Christmas, one for Spring Break and of coarse one for Summer break. These fall in December, April and August, though, they are month long breaks instead of two week breaks followed by scattered professional days and stat. holidays. The only negative impact that i believe year round schooling will cause is the childcare issues parents will have when their children have months off at a time, these vacations being at different times than the parents usual vacation periods. Other than that, I completely agree with your post above! Great Job by the way!!!
