Cyber Bullying
Ever since there has been the internet there has been something called cyber bullying. Well what even is cyber bullying? Cyber bullying is verbal abuse but over the internet. This is a huge problem in the modern society today. Cyber bullying happens way more often then physical bullying because most people who get cyber bullied wont tell anyone about it and other people wont do anything about it unless they are involved also. Cyber bullying has caused people to kill themselves , go into deep depression and can cause many many more issues.
If there was a law against cyber bullying many kids would be relieved and not be bullied in this way again. Cyber bullying is a terrible thing and should be stopped and hopefully all the people that cyber bully would listen. Many kids by making this law would realize what they are doling is wrong and be inspired to stop.
How would the police catch the people doiny Cyber bullying ? Cyber bullying is the most popular way of bullying these days so how would the authority's catch these "Cyber Bullies"? It seems like a very hard task to do. Since the Internet is so secretive now a days. It seems like a good idea to make it against the law to cyber bully but on the end would it just end up being a waist of time and a lot of effort.
In my opinion banning cyber bullying is a good idea because so many kids all the way to adult hood are bullied over the Internet. This isn't right and it can make them depressed and in worse cases cause them to commit suicide from being so sad. By making it illegal it may not stop all cyber bullying but by just stopping a few could be saving someones life.

Should bullying be a Crime???
Should bullying be a crime? Bullying happens alot around the world, especially in school. There are alot of type of bullyings and they can lead to leaving the school, not going to school, or even commiting suicide. Bullying can hurt people physically, mentally and emotionally.
Bullying is when someone hurts another person physically, emotionally and mentally. Some kids think that it's not really a big deal but that's because they are the people that don't know what happens to the victim. The victim may feel lonely after being bullied, sad, angry and weak. If bullying is a major thing in a victim's life, he or she may even commit suicide and that is very sad. Bullying in general is very sad.
These days, alot of people are dicussing and arguing about if bullying should be a crime. They say that even bullying is very violent and dangerous and it causes alot of deaths not just because the bullies physically kills the victims, but because the victims would kill themselves. Do you guys think that bullying should be a crime?
In my opinion, yes, I think that very dangerous bullying, such as beating up someone, should be a crime. It is very severe to be beaten up. The victim may even die if the bully doesn't stop. Also, making very rude comments that really shoots a hole in the victim's heart, such as comments about their family life, their "after-school" life or any other issues. Those can cause victims to maybe beat themselves up or even kill themselves. Bullying shouldn't happen. Bullies should try to put themselves to the victim's position and feel how the victim feels.
Although I think that bullying should be a crime, I don't think that little bullying, such as little kids teasing eachother or being mean to eachother, or highschool kids teasing eachother, should not be a crime. It may harm the victim's feelings but the victim should try to control their own feelings, not the police. These type of bullyings dont try to harm the victim physically.
In conclusion, some types of bullying should be a crime, such as beating up the victim, or saying something that would make the victim beat up or kill him or herself. I think that bullying should really stop because when you think about all the stuff that happens to the victim after getting bullied, it is very sad.

Should B.C ban tanning bed use for minors?
Manicures,
pedicures, spa, cosmetics, and hair salons are just a few services and products
that Canada offers. Another commonly known service our country has is indoor
tanning booths. With all these vanity services, we can all admit that we like
to look our absolute best. However, the government plans to put a limitation on
these services by making a law that anyone under the age of eighteen would be
forbidden from using indoor tanning salons. The only exception is with a
doctor’s prescription. This law would take action in the fall 2012. Should
tanning beds in B.C really be banned for minors? People should consider the
risks of tanning, and some of the reasons that some would disagree with this
new law.
Indoor
tanning beds are bad for your health. According to health statistics, people who
use tanning booths under the age of 35 have a higher risk of melanoma, and skin
cancer by 75 percent. Not only that, it
causes wrinkles and abnormal ageing in the skin. This is probably not the image
you imagined after tanning. This is because the radiation and UV rays in
tanning beds are actually much stronger and more concentrated than sunlight.
Tanning booths are obviously a health hazard for the minors, and it makes sense
for the government to play a role in reducing the risks of skin cancer. Once
you use an indoor tanning bed, the results are permanent. If you don’t like the
tan, you are stuck with it forever. If you really want a tan, then it is better
to use a spray on tan that is temporary, and won’t cause skin cancer. This is
much cheaper than going to a tanning salon.
Teenagers are becoming more and more obsessed with looks, and
are going even further to give themselves that superstar look. This can lead to
rash, blind decision making, which can have disastrous results that they
will have to endure for the rest of their life. Teens that take tans often
don’t think they will come out of a tan salon with wrinkles and a possible premature death. Instead they think that they will come out with a nice gorgeous bronze tan, but end up
regretting it for the rest of their life. By enforcing this law, we can be
assured that by the time the teenager becomes into an adult he or she will be
responsible enough to make the right choices for their health.
While becoming obsessed with appearances is
definitely not a good thing, indoor tanning booths shouldn’t be the only
service to take a toll. The lights to
dry nail salons is the same kind of light used in tanning beds. Yes, the same kind of light said to emit UV
rays that can potentially cause “cancer”. The nail polish can cause lung
disease if inhaled too much. Cosmetics are also hazardous as well, some
lipsticks could contain lead, and mascara might have mercury. Instead of going
to a hair salon you could end up with a red, watery eyes and a sore throat.
These are just a few examples on the side effects of vanity. We might as well
ban make up, hair salons and nail salons for minors too.
One of the reasons people are against this law
is because this law is saying parents are incapable of deciding whether or not
their own child should go to a tanning salon. There is already a law that minors under
eighteen must get parent permission. The guardian has to be there to sign the
form allowing the child to use the tanning bed.
Not only do the parents have to sign a form, but the witness the tan
salon operators would have to sign their name, the date, and signature to
confirm. In other words the teen can’t get a tan without their guardian’s
consent. The government shouldn’t have to make a law that would replace a
guardian’s permission.
The risks of allowing our youth to continue using these
tanning beds are too high. We can easily prevent these diseases
and deaths. This law can save our future generation. Not all parents are
perfect, so this is a good precaution. The purpose of this law is to help prevent our increasing population of teenage tan users from possibly ruining their lives, not to insult the guardians. Therefore I think that
banning indoor tanning beds for minors in B.C is a good idea.

The Ban on Tans: BC's Newest Law
People who tan indoors, such as using a tanning bed, are 74 percent more likely to get melanoma, a type of skin cancer, than people who have never tanned indoors. Looking at this, it’s no wonder that B.C. has passed a new law stating that people under 18 will not be permitted to tan indoors unless you have a doctor’s note. However, is this law really protecting us, or just taking away another one of our choices? I will discuss this and other aspects of indoor tanning and the new law.
A tanning bed is a device emitting ultraviolet rays while the user lies on top of it, resulting in a tan. As a result of this, people are prematurely ageing their skin, and getting skin cancer, which is the most common form of cancer in the United States. As for people under the age of 35, their risk for getting melanoma when they tan indoors is even higher, which is the main reason for the new ban. Not only are there health risks, but eventually indoor tanning can become addictive. Studies have shown that 70 percent of people who tan regularly had the same symptoms as alcohol abusers.
However, not everyone who use tanning beds are regular customers. If you compare a tanner who tans only occasionally and an outdoor tanner who tans frequently than the outdoor tanner is at a much higher risk of cancer. If so, then why is indoor tanning being picked out? Researchers have found out that tanners preferred natural UV lights to artificial UV lights. The natural UV lights also decreased the craving to tan and made the users more relaxed and happy compared to the artificial UV lights.
On the other hand, we should have the freedom of making our own decisions. The government should not be able to make our decisions for us, instead they should trust and allow us to. In addition, if we ban tanning beds, the mentioned addicted tanners would still feel the need to tan and will seek out an illegal tanning salon. These would likely be less safe and sanitary than those that are legal and government inspected. However, tanners could just go out and get a natural tan, which would satisfy and decrease their craving to tan.
After weighing the various pros and cons, I believe the government is doing the right thing in banning indoor tanning for citizens under the age of 18. They are not completely taking away our choices. After all, you can still tan outdoors, and even if you still think they are restricting us too much, it’s for our own wellbeing.

Should Bullying be a Crime?
Should bullying be considered as a crime? Bullying is certainly a big issue now a days at school, at work, pretty much everywhere you are. Bullying not only can hurt you physically, but also mentally and emotionally. People have committed suicide because they are hurt so bad inside, and they think their life is over.
Incase you didn't know, bullying is when someone keeps doing things or saying thing that do hurt another person, as I said before, mentally, physically or emotionally. Some of the things bullies do are calling someone names, excluding another person, threatening them, making someone feel scared, hitting or kicking them, and a lot more sadly.
Recently, there was a poll about bullying and whether it should be considered a crime or not. 65% of people in Canada said that bullying should be a crime, even if there is no physical violence. This means that most people are against bullying. Do I agree with this? Yes and no.
I believe bullying should be a crime because bullying can lead to death, like a crime. Also if people knew that they may be held accountable for bullying, it would make them think twice before they bully someone. People would also feel better about going to school or to work because they know that they won't get teased. They would feel safer and not have to worry about being bullied.
On the other hand, some types of bullying aren't crimes. Such as in elementary school. Kids will say things to each other that are mean, but that doesn't necessarily mean it is a crime.

I asked my mom the same question 'should bullying be a crime?' She said "some types of bullying should be considered a crime but it would be very difficult to charge someone. Bullying is often unseen and with the new addition of cyber bullying, it is sometimes difficult to find out who is the initiator."
In conclusion, bullying should be a crime because even though you may not be physically hurting someone, bullies need to learn that there are consequences for their actions. If they never learn this, bullying will continue and won't stop.
What do you think? Should bullying be a crime?

Are sports drinks good for teens?
As my mom always tells me is too just drink water and that it is the best for you. Most teens still would rather have a sports drink rather than water . A sports drink has good flavors and tastes good. Who wouldn't want that over a bland bottle of tasteless water? Well there is more to sports drinks than good taste.
Sports drinks are supposed to give your body back the amount of water in your body and replenish it. The sugar that mainly all sports drinks have in them is supposed to hype you up and give you energy. The sugar as most know hypes you up for a very short time and then you are even more tired then you were before. There is caffeine in some sports drinks and as my mom always warns me that caffeine stunts your growth. The sugar in the sports drinks will make you gain weight and for people who play sports this is a big deal because it can limit your mobility and sports need a lot of mobility to succeed.
To many teens sports drinks seem like a perfect thing to drink. The teens like the great taste that most sports drinks have and they like the energy it gives you from the sugar in the drink. Most teens would choose a sports drink over any other drink when it comes to sports. There is many different flavors and brands to choose from which gives kids a choice and an opportunity to try different ones . This way they always have choices and variety.
I personally like water better than a sports drink. I mean sure they taste great but water is always and will always be the best for you. Water doesn't have any taste but u can add some flavorings to it that make it have a taste which gives you a variety and water replenishes your body of the water it has lost through your sweat when working out and it has no sugar in it so it wont make you gain anything. so i would rather drink water than a sport drink.

Raising cyber- children

Cyberbullying is when you bully someone by saying mean things, targeting and embarrassing a person, and also threatening someone. This is done over the internet (which is the most common place to be cyberbullied), text messages and email. Cyberbullying is an important topic since bullying isn't as common as before, when people would only bully eachother in person, but now its mostly done over the internet.
The internet is definitely not a safe place so you should watch what kind of information you put up about yourself and the things you say to people.
Some people can cyberbully someone without even realizing it. An example of that could be if you make a silly status on Facebook and somebody comments something rude on it, that is still cyberbullying, but they might not realize it since it's funny to them at the time.
However, others do it on purpose to embarrass or hurt somebody. They can create a fake account on Facebook of that person and post or message that persons friends something mean, which is a very good example of cyberbullying. Although it is funny to the person who does this, they don't realize how much it can hurt the person that they are doing this to. They also don't know whether that person is already having problems on their own such as family troubles or anything, which can lead a kid to do something harmful to themselves, such as suicide, which has happened quite a lot.
In fact, every decade/century, more and more people die from suicide since bullying gets worse and worse. It might be the fact that more electronics keep coming out which makes it way easier for kids to cyberbully somebody since parents wouldn't know about it because over the internet, you are not being supervised.
If this topic, cyberbullying, was commonly known for everyone, maybe the people being mean would stop, since they would realize that what they are doing is very wrong and would think twice before saying something mean or doing something mean to another person. Cyberbullying is a big part of the whole definition of "bullying" so the topic this week that some people are writing about; "Should bullying be a crime", should also relate to this one. If the government were to put a law on this, in my opinion, it would be a very good thing and could in fact save peoples lives. The number of suicides would decrease since people wouldn't be tortured over the internet anymore.
Overall, my opinion on cyberbullying is that it is a terrible thing to do and everyone should stop! Being mean can really cost someone their life. People should always think before they say something because once something happens over the internet, you can't take those words or actions back.

Should bullying be a crime?
“Should
bullying be a crime?” This is the topic I am going to post about today. As usual, I will give you a description of
what is bullying and the pros and cons.
To bully somebody is the use superior strength or influence to
intimidate (someone), typically to force him or her to do what one wants or to
make fun of that person. This act usually occurs during childhood to adulthood.
But even adults can be bullied at work. Bulling can be done in several ways
such as physical (punching), verbal (calling names) or cyber (on the internet).
If bullying is made a crime, Anybody who bullies another could get suspended or expelled after warning.A pro about making bullying a crime is that people would not be bullied anymore. Bullying can get people very hurt both emotionally and physically. People have even suicide due to people bullying them! If a law is made to make bulling a crime, students and people would think twice about bullying another.

Bullying can get people very hurt both emotionally and physically. People have even suicide due to people bullying them! If a law is made to make bulling a crime, students and people would think twice about bullying another.
On another hand, making bullying a
crime would not be as great as people probably hoped for. If the teacher caught
one student bullying another would they be threatened to be kicked out of
school? Or if somebody was doing good hearted teasing, would they be kicked
out? Because if that is to happen, nobody would be at school!
Bullying is like human nature. When one person is upset at
another, they might talk to a friend to vent out their anger. That can be seen
as indirect bullying and that person who was upset could be committing a crime.
Making bullying a crime might benefit students by not being
bullied I do not think that bullying should be made a crime because bullying can come naturally, and it might also may punish students who teased a friend just to encourage them. Therefore I do not think that bullying should be made a crime. Instead of making it a crime, teachers, parents and even other students should start to seriously discourage bullying by encouraging the kids who bully others to think about how the others may feel and to use their powers positively.
